TZO Web Hosting Features and Capabilities

Web Hosting provides the following major features:
5 GB Monthly Traffic
500MB disk space (content, databases and logfiles)
Access to PHP, CGI, and Perl
Access to raw HTTP logfiles (Apache format)
Support for multiple Host Headers (SMTP headers)
MySQL support
cPanel support
Point and Click Installer support for popular web applications
Ability to run popular CMS such as Drupal, WordPress, Joomla etc.
Limited access to Sendmail (use of Authenticated SMTP is preferred)

Scripting and Programming

The Webhosting OS is UNIX (Linux), running Apache 2.x http server. For scripting the PHP version is 5.x, Perl is version 5.x. Other languages (Python, etc.) are available via CGI but they are not supported.

Databases

MySQL 5.x is supported. You can have 1 MySQL database, with as many tables as you like within the given disk quota. Note if you are installing more than one application and each requires their 'own' database, you must configure each application to work in a shared database container (see "prefix tables" in your application documentation).

Email Support

Webmail applications can send limited email using either local Sendmail, or connecting to a mailserver using SMTP. Most form mail, contact and other applications can be configured for both Sendmail or a specified SMTP server. For support and performance reasons it is preferable to not use Sendmail, and directly connect to your organization's mailserver using Authenticated SMTP. It is not possible for Support to investigate Sendmail email delay issues, and many (recipient) mailservers simply treat as spam any email originating from a webserver.

Please note it is common for web spiders and 'bots' to scan for abuse formmail and contact forms, and then attempt to spam through a configuration weakness. It is suggested that any web forms be protected by a 'Captcha' to minimize automated abuse. Alternatively there are free and non-free sites which will host your contact forms and mailing lists. If an email form is exploited for abuse then access to email will need to be suspended to protect users and server resources.

Server Backups

Website server backups are performed weekly. This backup service should not substitute for maintaining your own site backup. If you need to request a website restore you may contact Support, however in most cases it is faster to restore your site from your own local copy.
