Remotely View Your Linksys Wireless-G WVC54GC Camera over the Internet
Introduction
Your Linksys Wireless-G Camera (WVC54GC) is a great way to keep an eye on your home, office or maybe your backyard pool from any web browser, at home or over the Internet.
When viewing over the Internet, it's best to have a domain name for your camera since it's easier to remember than an IP Address. Your camera comes with TZO Dynamic DNS service built directly into V1.26 of the firmware. All you need to do is sign up with an account and insert the information into your camera! This TZO DDNS service not only gives you a domain name, but also tracks your IP address and if it changes, keeps it updated with your domain name.
This tutorial will show you how to signup with a free 60-day trial of the TZO Dynamic DNS service and configure your Linksys WVC54GC Camera and Linksys router to gain remote access and viewing to your Linksys camera.
Requirements
This tutorial assumes you have the latest firmware for your Linksys WVC54GC Camera (Latest at time of publishing is R1.26) If you DO NOT have this version or a newer version, please update your camera BEFORE continuing. See the Linksys WVC54GC Support page for the latest firmware. You should also have followed the WVC54GC Camera user guide and have already run through the setup wizard for the product. You should already have an IP address and should be able to log into the camera using your web browser before you begin this tutorial.

You will now see a screen similar to the one below. Click on the Linksys WVC54GC camera and select NEXT. The other 2 camera models may not work properly with TZO. If you have these models, you can signup with TZO for your Linksys or other brand router. In most cases, Linksys and many other routers will perform the DDNS task properly just as the camera would.
-
6Selecting your Free Trial
You will now see a screen similar to the one below. Click on the "TRY TZO Dynamic DNS for 60 days FREE!" or if you wish to order the TZO service, you can do that as well, the end result is the same. Click NEXT to continue.

7Selecting your Domain Name
You will now see a screen similar to the one below that is asking for your Domain Name selection. Enter your choice for a domain name as shown and select NEXT.
-
8Enter your Email Address
You will now be asked for your email address. This email address will only be used to send your TZO Account information and an expiration notice. Enter your email address and select NEXT to continue.
Now that you have signed up with your TZO DDNS account, you should check your email. In your email you will find an email from TZO.COM (If you do not see the email, check your Bulk/Junk email folder to make sure this was not marked as Junk).
Open the email window and keep this email window open. Now go back to your browser and log back into the Camera and go back to the MAIN SCREEN and select DDNS. You should now check the ENABLE TZO DDNS to make sure it's enabled as shown circled in the screenshot below. This should be CHECKED ON.
You should then enter the TZO Account information in the email from TZO into the Camera DDNS section. Enter your EMAIL ADDRESS, TZO KEY and DOMAIN NAME. It's very important that you type this information in EXACTLY as shown in your email.
Make sure that you set the UPDATE PERIOD to every 15 minutes. This will keep checking for an IP change on your router every 15 minutes and update if it changes.
Once you have entered the information properly and checked it for typo's, you can click the APPLY button as shown circled in red in the screenshot below.

9Setting up the TZO DDNS in the Camera
This domain name is good for 60 days for your use. After the 60-day trial the TZO Dynamic DNS service will expire. You can purchase the TZO standard Dynamic DNS service for this domain name at http://www.tzo.com/Linksys before it expires. When ordering, use the domain name and the same email address you used when signing up.
Now that you have enabled the TZO DDNS, your camera will continually poll your network every 15 minutes and track the IP address of your router. Once the IP Address changes, the TZO DDNS will update your domain name with the new IP address. If you wish to reduce the default "Update Period" and check for WAN IP changes less frequently, you can reduce the interval to your liking.
** Note: Keep in mind that if you set this too high, your IP address may change and the device may not catch the IP address change until it reaches that time interval. The default setting of 15 minutes is recommended. **
Step 11) Your last step to configure the camera for remote viewing is opening the ports required to gain access via your Web browser. By default, the camera web server runs on port 80 TCP.
In this example, we show you how to open up port 80 and 1024 (TCP) on your most popular Linksys brand routers. If you have a different style of router and require assistance, we urge you to try http://PortForward.com or consult the manual that came with your router or call the manufacturer for assistance in opening these ports.
Opening ports in your Linksys router is very easy. You first need to log into your Linksys router by going to http://192.168.1.1 and using your username and password to log as shown in the screenshot below: (The Linksys default username and pw is blank/admin as shown below) (Blank means you enter nothing in the username field as shown)
